4.5.5 Available data
The cyclical data transmission between the control and safety laser scanner is done via
t
he process image see "Process images", page 69.
The safety laser scanner provides I&M data and alarms, e.g. for diagnostic purposes.

4.5.5.1 Process images
Overview
T
he cyclical data transmission between the controller and the safety laser scanner
occurs via the process image.
The safety laser scanner allows users to select between different process images.
You can choose a suitable process image depending on the controller used and the
application.
The desired process image is selected in the setup of the control unit. The process
images are displayed as modules.
During configuration of the safety laser scanner, you only have to enter whether you
have selected a 6-byte long or 12-byte long process image, see "Inputs and outputs",
page 118.
You can select the process map based on the following criteria:
•
Version of PROFIsafe specification (2.4 or 2.6.1)
•
Length of process image (12-byte or 6-byte)
•
With or without test of F_iPar_CRC
Content of the process image
