4.3 Installing Power Modules
4.3.1 Basic installation rules for built-in units
Protection against the spread of fire
The built-in units may be operated only in closed housings or in higher-level control cabinets
with closed protective covers, and when all of the protective devices are used. The installation
of the built-in units in a metal control cabinet or protection with another equivalent measure
must prevent the spread of fire and emissions outside the control cabinet.
Wall mounting units may be operated outside the control cabinet.
Protection against condensation or electrically conductive contamination
Protect the inverter, e.g. by installing it in a control cabinet with degree of protection IP54
according to IEC 60529 or NEMA 12. Further measures may be necessary for particularly
critical operating conditions.
If condensation or conductive pollution can be excluded at the installation site, a lower degree
of control cabinet protection may be permitted.
