17. N5201 Flow Sensor
The ventilator employs a low dead space (1ml), heated wire anemometer sensor.
To minimise dead space the sensor body fills much of the ET tube adapter and
patient circuit connection.
The ventilator flow sensor (SLE Part Nº N5201) is designed to measure flow rates
that do not exceed 30 LPM. Do not use this flow sensor to monitor patients with
ET tube sizes larger than 5.0 mm or that require more than 30 LPM.
Before re-insertion into the patient circuit the user must calibrate the flow sensor.
17.1 Calibration of the Flow Sensor
To calibrate the flow sensor, press the Options and
Service Data Button on the Mode
Panel. This activates the Services panel.
Pressing the Flow button will activate the Calibrate
flow sensor panel.
Make sure that there is no flow passing the through the sensor. For this purpose,
occlude the flow sensor by holding it between two fingers, closing both ends as
shown in the following picture.
Warning: The flow sensor can not be calibrated whilst fitted in the patient
circuit.
