NOTE:
Be sure to select the pinion shim(s) if replac-
ing the pinion, taper roller bearing, or lower
case. To select the shims, see “Shimming”
(6-21).
Assembling the forward gear
1. Install a new taper roller bearing onto the
forward gear.
Assembling the oil seal housing
1. Apply grease to a new oil seal, and then
install it into the oil seal housing to the
specified depth a.
NOTE:
Install an oil seal halfway into the oil seal
housing, and then install the other oil seal.
Assembling the drive shaft
1. Install the taper roller bearing onto the
drive shaft.
