Disassembling the PTT cylinder
1. Hold the cylinder 1 in a vise using alumi-
num plates a on both sides.
2. Loosen the tilt cylinder end screw, and
then remove the tilt ram assembly 2.
WARNING
Make sure that the ram is fully extended
before removing the end screw.
3. Drain the PTT fluid.
4. Remove the free piston 4 from the cylin-
der 1.
5. Hold the tilt ram 5 in a vise using alumi-
num plates a on both sides, and then
remove the tilt piston 6 and tilt cylinder
end screw 7 from the ram.
6. Remove the absorber valves 8 from the
tilt piston 6.
Checking the tilt cylinder and piston
1. Check the tilt piston 1, free piston 2,
and backup ring 3. Replace if cracked or
scratched.
2. Check the tilt cylinder end screw 4, dust
seal 5, and backup ring 6. Replace if
cracked or scratched.
3. Check the tilt ram 7. Polish with 400
600-grit sandpaper if there is light rust, or
replace if bent or excessively corroded.
