Installing the steering arm
1. Install the washer 1, bushing 1 2, a
new O-ring 3, and bushing 2 4 onto the
steering arm 5.
2. Place the swivel bracket 6 in an upright
position, and then install the steering arm
onto the bracket.
3. Install bushing 2 7, a new O-ring 8, and
the plate 9 onto the steering arm.
4. Install the steering yoke 0 onto the
steering arm, making sure that they are
both facing in the same direction (a and
b are aligned).
È S-transom model
NOTE:
Hold the steering arm, and then strike the
steering yoke 0 with a copper hammer to
install it.
5. Apply grease to the grease nipple A on
the swivel bracket until it comes out from
the upper bushing c.
NOTE:
To assemble the clamp brackets, see Install-
ing the clamp bracket (7-29).
Installing the upper case
1. Install the lower mount assemblies 1 to
the upper case assembly 2.
2. Install the upper case assembly 2 to the
steering arm, install the ground lead ter-
minal 3, and then tighten the nuts 4 to
the specified torque. Also, tighten the
nuts 5.
3. Install the lower mount housings 6.
4. Install the ground lead terminals 7 and
8.
5. Install the lower mount cover 9. (L-tran-
som model)
