4.5.1 Preparing the Instrument Before Long Periods of Disuse
When you intend not to use the instrument for a week or more, use the procedure below to clean
each section. Failure to do that can cause fluid remaining in the flow lines to crystallize and
consequently damage the instrument.
Prepare: 0.5% sodium hypochlorite solution (or commercially available detergent diluted
appropriately), sample tube, cotton swabs, purified water, alcohol, blower brush, tissue
paper, and protective gloves
Wear protective gloves to prevent exposure to pathogenic microbes.
Discard used cleaning tools and protective gloves in accordance with local
regulations for biohazardous waste.
