This document describes the Azbil Corporation Single Loop Controller, Model C1M, a compact controller (48 × 48 mm mask) designed for installation and configuration. It provides comprehensive information for safe and correct use, covering installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The C1M controller offers a wide range of control and monitoring functions:

PV Input: Supports various input types including thermocouples (K, J, E, T, R, S, B, N, PLII, WRe5-26, PR40-20, DIN U, DIN L), resistance temperature detectors (Pt100, JPt100), and DC current/voltage signals (4–20 mA, 0–20 mA, 0–1 V, 1–5 V, 0–5 V, 0–10 V DC). It includes features like PV square root extraction, decimal point positioning, PV range low/high limits, PV ratio and bias, PV filter, and PV hold. Reference junction compensation for thermocouples can be internal or external.
Control Output: Supports relay, voltage pulse, and current output types. These can be assigned to control outputs 1 and 2 based on the model.
Control Methods: Offers ON/OFF control and PID control (including Ra-PID for high-performance control). It supports heating and cooling control using control output 2 and event relays.
Operation Modes: Includes AUTO/MANUAL mode for automatic or manual control, RUN/READY mode for continuous or stopped control, and AT (automatic tuning) for automatic PID constant calculation.
Event Outputs (DO): Provides up to 3 event relay outputs, configurable for various alarm or control modes.
Digital Inputs (DI): Supports up to 2 digital inputs, with functions assignable via DI assignment.
Current Transformer (CT) Input: Offers up to 2 CT inputs for heater burnout/overcurrent detection or current measurement, with configurable operation types and outputs.
Communication Functions: Equipped with an RS-485 communication interface, supporting CPL (Controller Peripheral Link), Modbus/ASCII, Modbus/RTU, and PLC Link communication protocols. This allows connection to a master station (PC, PLC, etc.) for parameter reading/writing and monitoring.
User-Defined Functions: Allows up to eight frequently used settings or monitoring data to be displayed as user-defined functions on the operation display for easier access.

Usage Features

Easy Setting: Parameters can be easily set using the [MODE], [PARA], and digit-change keys on the front panel.
LCD Display: Features an LED display for excellent visibility of PV (present temperature), SP (set temperature), MV (manipulated variable), event indicators, control output indicators, and status indicators.
Protective Film: A protective film covers the console, which should be removed after installation and wiring.
User Levels: Offers three user levels (simple, standard, advanced) to restrict displayed items and settings, preventing unintended changes.
Smart Loader Package (SLP-C1F): A dedicated software package (model SLP-C1F) is available for PC connection via a USB loader cable. This package facilitates easy reading and writing of parameters, operation, and monitoring of control situations on a trend screen, eliminating the need for custom communication programs.
Hard Cover (Optional): A separately sold hard cover (part No. 84515988-001) can be attached to prevent accidental setting changes and protect the device in harsh environments.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: The device can be cleaned by wiping with a soft dry cloth. Organic solvents, paint thinner, benzene, or detergents should not be used.
Fuse Replacement: When replacing the fuse for power wiring, a time-lag (T) fuse rated 0.5 A, 250 V, compliant with IEC 60127, must be used.
Calibration and Inspection: The device supports PV input, current output, CT input calibration, and I/O inspection. Calibration and inspection are performed using the SLP-C1F Smart Loader Package.
Alarm Codes: The manual provides a list of alarm codes and their corresponding causes and corrective actions for troubleshooting.
Disposal: As an industrial product subject to the WEEE Directive, it should not be disposed of as household waste but returned to an authorized collection point for proper disposal or recycling.
