Deployment Scenarios
The following sections illustrate the basic types of SCMP deployment scenarios.
• 1xISG – 1xSCE
• 1xISG – 2xSCE (SCE cascade)
• NxISG – 2xSCE (SCE cascade)
• NxISG – MxSCE Via Load Balancing (MGSCP)
Single ISG Router with a Single SCE Platform (1xISG – 1xSCE)
Figure 14-1 illustrates a deployment using one ISG router with a single SCE platform.

Note the following:
• The red dotted lines depict the control path communication.
• A deployment of this type might be used with ISG running on a service gateway or BRAS
terminating a large number of subscribers. However, note that deploying only one SCE platform
results in a single point of failure, which is not generally acceptable in an actual deployment.
