MATRIX 220
READING DIAGRAMS
• The following reading diagrams are to be considered as references and are given
for typical performance at 25°C using high quality grade A symbols: Code 128 (1D
code) and Data Matrix ECC 200 (2D code) from the Test Charts provided with the
reader.
• Testing should be performed with the actual Matrix 220 using application codes in
order t
o evaluate whether maximizing application performance requires adjust-
ments to the HW/SW configuration with respect to the Reference Conditions
given
under each diagram.
• The ratio of the Vertical FOV width with respect to the Horizontal FOV width in the
diagrams is about
equal to 0.75; specifically 960/1280. (i.e. FOV
V.
≅ FOV
H
x 0.75).
• The reading distance ranges are measured from the reading window surface.
• The max theoretical Line Speed values for each diagram can be calculated using
the formul
a in "
Maximum Line Speed and Exposure Time Calculations" on page 119.
• Common software parameter settings other than def
ault settings are:
For reading 1D code symbologies: Narrow Quiet Zone=E
nabled.
For reading 2D code symbologies: Code Contras
t=Standard; Decoding Complex-
ity=Medium.
• When defining a HW/SW configuration for the Matrix 220 for conditions different
from those of the re
ference diagrams, it is suggested to keep in mind the following
rules:
- Changes in Exposure Time act dir
ectly proportional to the luminosity of the
image and inversely proportional to the maximum code reading movement
speed. Consequently, reducing the Exposure Time by half, reduces the luminos-
ity of the image by half but doubles the theoretical code reading movement
speed.
- Chan
ges in Gain act directly pr
oportional to the luminosity of the image. Increas-
ing the Gain va
lue however, can reduce the quality of the acquired image.
- For the DPM illuminators, the overall lighting power being considered is
all Sec-
tors ON from the Internal LED Group, unless specified otherwise.
