Chapter 2: Configuring and Connecting D-Show 17
Using House Clock
Connect a “house” or other external master clock signal to
the Word Clock In on the FOH Rack. Distribute the same
house clock to the external digital device, and set it to slave to
the incoming house word clock signal.
Using Word Clock Out from the FOH Rack
Connect the Word Clock Out on the FOH Rack to the corre-
sponding digital device. Set the external device to slave to the
incoming word clock signal.
Digital Gain and HDx
In D-Show systems that include DSI digital input and the HDx
Pro Tools Recording option, channel gain is maintained when
switching input channels between available digital sources
(from DSI to HDx, or vice versa).
As you adjust gain for channels that are sourced from one or
the other digital source (DSI or HDx), any changes you make
to channel gain are tracked by D-Show. Those changes can
then be transferred and applied when that channel is
switched from an HDx source to a DSI input using the Apply
HDx Gain Changes command. Alternatively, you can choose
to discard changes and revert to the stored gain value for that
input source.
If you choose to apply HDx gain levels when switching that
channel to a Stage Rack DSI input, those levels will be trans-
ferred and applied directly to the new source. For example, if
an HDx source has a gain setting +3dB, switching that source
to a DSI input and choosing to apply gain changes will result
in the DSI input being set identically to +3dB.
If you choose to discard gain settings when switching that
channel the DSI input will revert to its previous Stage Rack
gain setting. The system remembers the type of each Stage in-
put card upon entering HDx mode.
D-Show retains Stage Rack input gain settings as part of the
HDx configuration for as long as the card is present in the sys-
tem.
Analog Gain Reminder
Relative gain changes will still be applied when switching
from HDx to an analog input source in order to preserve gain
structure. For more information, see the HDx TDM
Record/Playback Option Guide.
Digital and Analog Settings
D-Show automatically detects when a Stage Rack has been re-
configured with the addition (or removal) of any analog or
digital I/O card. When this occurs, D-Show will apply the last
known settings (or default settings if no previous settings are
available) for each card type.

When exiting HDx mode and returning to input from a
Stage Rack (analog or digital card), if a given Stage input
card type has changed (such as Analog to Digital or vice
versa), any gain changes made to inputs on that card while
in HDx mode are discarded even if you choose to apply gain
changes.
