Songs 2•43
Songs are selected using the SONG button of the Style Groups section with
LED B of the A/B selector button selected (LED ON).
1. Check that LED B of the A/B selector is on. If not, press the A/B selector
button of the STYLE GROUPS section so that the B LED starts to flash.
2. Press the SONG button to access the Song memory.
3. Press one of the buttons marked 1 - 8 to select a Song.
In the example, we press button 1.
The arrowhead to the left of the display moves automatically to
the SONG menu function and the Song name is shown in the 8
digit display.
4. After selecting the Song, press the PLAY/STOP (or START/STOP) but-
ton to start the playback.
The SONG starts to play.
Depending on the Song selected, you may or may not have a free track to
play along with. Refer to the paragraph,” Play along with the Song” further
ahead.
5. If you want to change the playback speed (Tempo), use the TEMPO/
DATA / buttons.
The Tempo is shown in the Tempo display area. While the Song is playing,
the beat pattern indicators monitor the beats of each bar and the measure
counter shows the current song position.
6. Press the PLAY/STOP (or START/STOP) button to stop the playback.
The Song stops at a precise point (see the Measure counter).
7. Press the CONTINUE button to start the song from the point it was
stopped.
If, instead, you press Play/Stop (or Start/Stop) again, the Song pointer re-
turns to the song start position (0) and the songs starts again.
8. Press PLAY/STOP (or START/STOP) to stop the song.
If you want to playback a Song or SMF File directly from disk without loading
the data to RAM memory, use the Direct from Disk method explained in the
Disk chapter, or use the Play All Songs button explained on the previous page.
The Melody Off button
The MELODY OFF function allows you to listen to the Song playback without
the melody, useful for a singer to sing along with the backing, or to play along
with the song.
1. During the Song playback, press the MELODY OFF button to cancel the
playback of the melody.
The corresponding display indicator turns on to show the activation of the
function.
2. Press MELODY OFF again to deactivate the function and restore the
melody to the Song.

IMPORTANT
When you press the A/B Selector button to
switch from bank set A to bank set B (or vice
versa), the LED currently shown off will flash
for about 3 seconds, during which time you
must make your bank selection. If the LED
stops flashing, it will not be possible to switch
bank set.
