Calculation of Sample Concentration
Given below is an example where the measured absorbance of a sample is 0.1637.
Cx = {K (Ax - B) + C
1
} 1F
A
+ IF
B
Cx : Concentration of sample
K : Calibration factor
Ax : Absorbance of sample
C
1
: Concentration of standard solution 1
B : Absorbance of standard solution 1 (S1ABS)
IF
A
: Instrument constant A (assumed to be 1.0)
IF
B
: Instrument constant B (assumed to be 0.0)
Cx = [ {202 (0.1637 - 0.0447) + 0.0 } 1.0 + 0 ] × 10
-1
= 2.39 2.4
In the above formula, the result of calculation is multiplied by the exponential part (10
-1
), which
was ignored in the calculation of K value and the product is rounded off to match scaling. Thus,
the final Cx value is 2.4.
