5.5 Air filter
Checking the air filter for dirt
The filter housing is fitted with a discharge slot E for removing the dust.
Bear in mind the following to avoid premature engine wear!
☞ Do not wash, brush or clean the filter cartridge with compressed air
☞ Replace the filter cartridge when the telltale comes on
☞ Never reuse a damaged filter cartridge
☞ Ensure cleanliness when replacing the filter cartridge!
For applications in dusty environment, the air filter is fitted with an extra
safety cartridge F (standard).
☞ Do not clean the safety cartridge – replace it every third time maintenance
is carried out on the filter!
☞ Checking the dust valve E
• Stop the engine
• Prevent the machine from rolling away and remove the ignition key –seechapter3
“Stopping/parking the machine” on page 3-58
• Squeeze the discharge slot of dust valve E
• Remove hardened dust by compressing the upper area of the valve
• Clean the discharge slot if necessary
☞ Replace the air filter cartridge as soon as telltale 79 on the indicating instrument comes
on –seeReplacing the air filter cartridge on page 5-12
• At the latest after 1500 service hours (however once a year)
Filter cartridges degrade prematurely when in service in acidic air for longer
periods of time!
☞ Replace filter cartridge D and safety cartridge F at the latest after 500 serv-
ice hours!
