Gathering Optional Equipment
Keep the following information in mind when gathering optional equipment, in preparation for
installing a system:
• External voice mail systems (Enterprise

Messaging or Voice Processing Unit) and
applications software for integrated Voice Processing (voice mail, Automated Attendant,
Hunt Group Announcement and Hunt Group Overflow, optional Fax-On-Demand, SMDR
storage, etc.).
• CT Gateway for using System OAI applications on a network.
• Headsets (Electret-compatible) for endpoints and handset amplifiers for single line
endpoints.
• External music source.
• External paging speakers and amplifier(s). See the notice on page 5-171.
• Electronic equipment (alarms, lights, etc.) to connect to the night transfer relay.
• External voice mail equipment. See page 4-60.
• Fax machine. See page 4-60.
• Industry-standard, one-pair (two-conductor) twisted cable to run from the MDF to all
station instruments and four-conductor modular jack [line jack unit] assemblies for all
station instruments, including IP and digital endpoints, single line DTMF endpoints, IP
SLAs, SLAs, and playback devices.
• Grounding terminal and 10AWG (diameter 6mm) wire for grounding the chassis, Single-
Line Adapters, etc.
• Digital endpoint PCDPMs for using Off-Hook Voice Announce (OHVA) features and for
installing an MDPM. The serial port interface does not support serial data communication.
• Digital endpoint MDPMs for connecting single line endpoints.
• Optional wall-mount kits for the Inter-Tel CS-5x00/DEI chassis. For details, see Table 6-4
on page 6-4. One wall-mount kit allows you to mount the chassis flat against the MDF and
the other kit from the Inter-Tel CommSource
®
division provides a rack mount unit that can
be wall-mounted on the MDF.
