System Configurations
The Inter-Tel CS-5200, CS-5400, and CS-5600 systems are sold separately as kits that include
five IP endpoint licenses each. Additional IP endpoint licenses are required before more than
five IP endpoints will operate on a system.
Included in the base server, and available to the three systems, are two built-in single line
endpoint circuits, two built-in loop start trunk circuits, and circuitry to support up to 180 trunks
across digital spans. To see a breakout of system trunk capacities by trunk type, see
“Capacities of All-Trunk systems” on page 4-39.
An Inter-Tel 5000 platform running on v2.x provides increased IP endpoint capacity for all its
configurations. This improvement is achieved by using a less processing-intensive codec to
allocate IP resources than was used in previous versions. With v2.0 and later, the system uses
G.711 as the default vocoder instead of G.729. As a result, the Inter-Tel CS-5200, CS-5400, and
CS-5600 systems support up to 75, 175, and 250 IP endpoints, respectively.
Inter-Tel CS-5200
For smaller user environments, the Inter-Tel CS-5200 default configuration includes three IP
networking resources and five IP endpoint licenses. Running v2.x and utilizing the system
oversubscription capability, the Inter-Tel CS-5200 supports a mix of up to 75 IP endpoints, IP
private networking trunks, and/or IP gateway trunks. Required interface hardware and licensing
apply. The CS-5200 provides eight voice channels for Basic Voice Mail and 32 voice channels
for Enterprise Messaging (EM) or a Windows 2000-based Voice Processing Unit (VPU).
Inter-Tel CS-5400
Attaching a Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) to the system’s Processor Module (PM-1) and
adding applicable licensing creates the Inter-Tel CS-5400. The default configuration of the CS-
5400 includes six IP networking resources and five IP endpoint licenses. Running v2.x and
utilizing the system oversubscription capability, the Inter-Tel CS-5400 supports a mix of up to
175 IP endpoints, IP private networking trunks, and/or IP gateway trunks. Required interface
hardware and licensing apply. The CS-5400 provides eight voice channels for Basic Voice Mail
and 32 voice channels for Enterprise Messaging (EM) or a Windows 2000-based Voice
Processing Unit (VPU).
