Connecting Cables and Checking Cables to the System
At this point in the installation, all cabling to the MDF, patch panel, rack, and endpoints should
be completed. This includes all cables that terminate at the chassis modules.
To complete cabling:
1. Plug all applicable cables into their respective modules and chassis ports.
2. Install the LAN cable from the Processor Module jack to a LAN connection. Plug the
cable into a 100Base-T switch, instead of a hub.
3. Connect the modules to MDF blocks or a patch panel using appropriate cabling. If
replacing an Inter-Tel Axxess system, a 15 ft (4.5720 m) Amphenol-to-DEM-16 cable is
available, part no. 813.1814.
See Figure 5-35 on page 5-68 for a pinout and cabling example. Pinouts must follow the
568B standard.
4. If installing optional equipment, see “Optional System Equipment” on page 5-169 and
following.
5. Continue to “Grounding the Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server” on page 5-16.
