Installation Options for Single Line Endpoints
AC—or tip/ring-controlled—single line endpoints can be installed using SLM-4 or SLM-8
modules, SLA or IP SLA units, the Data Device port on an MDPM attached to a digital endpoint,
or the two-port single line jack (RJ-14) built-in to the back of the Inter-Tel CS-5200/5400/5600
Base Server. Programm the items discussed in these sections using information discussed in
the Programming chapter of the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no:
580.8006).
Single Line Modules
If required, install an SLM-4 in the Inter-Tel CS-5200/5400/5600 Base Server in accordance with
the standardized procedure, “Installing a Four-Port Single Line Module (SLM-4)” on page 5-50.
As applicable, program the endpoint in accordance with the procedure on programming a four-
port single line module in the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no:
580.8006).
If required, install a SLM-8 module in the Digital Expansion Interface chassis in accordance with
the procedure, “Installing an Eight-Port Single Line Module (SLM-8)” on page 5-76. As
applicable, program the endpoint in accordance with the procedure on programming an eight-
port single line module in the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no:
580.8006).
Single-Line Adapter (SLA)
If required, install an SLA in accordance with the procedure appearing at “Installing Single Line
Adapters (SLA)” on page 5-132.
IP Single-Line Adapter (IP SLA)
If required, install an IP SLA in accordance with the procedure at “Installing an IP SLA” on
page 5-175.
Modem Data Port Module
If required, install a PCDPM in a digital endpoint in accordance with “Installing a PCDPM” on
page 5-183. If required, connect an MDPM to the PCDPM in accordance with “Connecting
PCDPM Cables” on page 5-192.
