To configure the PS-1 on the LAN:
1. Attach a monitor, keyboard, and mouse or, if using a laptop PC, attach the specified
serial cable and null modem to the PS-1. For details see Figure 5-27 on page 5-53.
2. If attached with a laptop PC, start a hyperterm session and set the connection baud rate
at 115200. Then start a PuTTY
®
session. You will find a copy of PuTTY software on the
product CD. Read the Readme file and follow the PuTTY installation and user
instructions.
3. From the monitor and keyboard or PC attached to the PS-1, login to the system using
the default username (it5k) and password (itpassw). The Diagnostics Management
Utility screen or window appears.
4. From the DMU main menu select Configuration. The Configuration screen appears.
5. From the Configuration screen:
a. Change Static IP Address for the PS-1
b. Change Static Subnet
c. Change Static IP Gateway
d. Disable DHCP
e. Reboot the system
To configure the Base Server in DB Programming:
1. From the PS-1 IP address, start a DB Programming session.
If a PS-1 is not connected to a Base Server, the Connection Wizard appears.
Follow the instructions in the Connection Wizard to make the Base Server–PS-1
Connection. When you click Finish, the Connection Wizard closes the DB
Programming session.
To continue, restart the DB Programming session.
For details about using this wizard, refer to the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and
Programming Guide (part no: 580.8006). When you click Finish, the Connection Wizard
closes the DB Programming session.
2. Upload an Inter-Tel CS-5600 license and any other system-specific licensing. From the
DB Studio menu bar, select Operations – Software License Operations Upload
Software License. For the detailed procedure, see “Software License Upload” in the
Installation manual.
NOTE
The PS-1 and Base Server must be connected to the network on the same
LAN, VLAN, and subnet. For additional details, see “Network Environment
Requirements” on page 5-146.
IMPORTANT
When installing v2.0 or later software, the license must match the
system CPU type. An Inter-Tel CS-5200 system requires a CS-5200
license; an Inter-Tel CS-5400 system requires a CS-5400 license;
and, an Inter-Tel CS-5600 system requires a CS-5600 license.
