CMIOU Configurations (SPARC M8-8 and SPARC M7-8 With
One PDomain)
A SPARC M8-8 and SPARC M7-8 server that is configured as a single PDomain can have as
many as eight CMIOUs in a single CMIOU chassis, as listed in the following table.
The following configurations are supported on a SPARC M8-8 and SPARC M7-8 server that
has one PDomain.

CMIOU_0 and CMIOU_1
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_2
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_3
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_4
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_5
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_6
■
CMIOU_0 – CMIOU_7
Note - The SPARC M7-8 server with one PDomain does not support SPARC M8 CMIOUs.
SPARC M7 CMIOUs are not supported in SPARC M8-8 servers. See “Mixed CMIOU
Configurations” on page 86 for more information.

Caution - To prevent overheating, fill unused CMIOU slots with CMIOU filler panels.

CMIOU Configurations (SPARC M7-16)
A SPARC M7-16 server is divided into four DCUs that have two through four CMIOUs each.
CMIOUs CMIOU8–CMIOU15 are in the top CMIOU chassis, and CMIOUs CMIOU0–CMIOU7 are in
the bottom CMIOU chassis.
