Install a Fan Module (Switch Chassis)
a.
Press the green latch above the LEDs to the right to disengage the fan
module latch.
b.
Grasp the metal handle on the fan module and slide the module out to
remove it from the server.

Install a Fan Module (Switch Chassis)
Caution - If you remove a fan module while the server is powered on, wait 30 seconds before
installing the replacement fan module. Doing so ensures that Oracle ILOM has enough time to
detect the new component, which is required for the software to power on the new fan module.
1.
Insert the new fan module into the empty fan slot.
Note - If you are installing fan modules into a new switch unit, install them while the switch
unit is in the chassis.
2.
Push the fan into the slot until it clicks into place to completely seat the fan
module into the slot.
3.
Power on the server, if necessary.
If the server powered off before you installed a new fan module, see “Returning the Server to
Operation” on page 73.
4.
Verify that the fault has been cleared and the replaced component is operational.

5.
Return the replaced component to Oracle.
See “Prepare a Component for Return to Oracle” on page 64.
