Remove a PDECB
Remove a PDECB
This procedure can be performed by a customer while the server is running and after removing
the component that is installed in front of it.
Caution - This procedure requires that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic
discharge. This discharge can cause server components to fail. When you unpack the
replacement part, open the package on a grounded antistatic mat. Always use an antistatic wrist
strap for hardware replacements.
1.
Determine which PDECB requires service.
See “Identify Faulted Components” on page 36, “CMIOU Indicators and LEDs” on page 90, or
“Switch Unit LEDs” on page 190.
2.
Take the necessary ESD precautions.
See “Prevent ESD Damage” on page 61.
3.
Ensure that the component that contains the PDECB you are removing displays
an amber LED.
This illustration shows the location of the LED on a CMIOU.
4.
Remove the component that is installed in front of the failed PDECB.
For information about preparing a CMIOU for removal and for information about removing a
CMIOU, see “Servicing CMIOUs” on page 83.
