Remove an SP Internal Interconnect Assembly
This procedure can be performed only by qualified service personnel. Remove AC power using
the circuit breakers on the appropriate PDU before performing this procedure.
The replacement procedures are the same whether you are replacing an SP internal interconnect
assembly in the CMIOU chassis or in the switch chassis.
1.
Determine which interconnect requires service.
See “Identify Faulted Components” on page 36.
2.
Take the necessary ESD precautions.
See “Prevent ESD Damage” on page 61.
3.
Power off the server and switch off the appropriate PDU circuit breakers.
See “Removing Power From the Server or Domain” on page 69.
4.
Locate the SP internal interconnect assembly at the front of the server.
See “CMIOU Chassis Front Components” on page 20 and “Switch Chassis Front Components
(SPARC M7-16)” on page 23.
5.
Gain access to the SP internal interconnect assembly:
a.
From the rear of the server, remove the SPs and the SP tray from the
impacted chassis.
See “Servicing SPs” on page 117 and “Servicing SP Trays” on page 243.
b.
Unseat all CMIOUs or switch units from the impacted chassis.
See “Servicing CMIOUs” on page 83or “Servicing Switch Units” on page 189.
c.
Remove all interconnect assemblies that are installed adjacent to the SP
internal interconnect assembly you are removing.
See “Servicing Internal Interconnect Assemblies” on page 297 (SPARC M8-8 and
SPARC M7-8) or “Servicing External Interconnect Assemblies” on page 305 (SPARC
M7-16).
6.
From the front of the server, remove the SP internal interconnect assembly.
