1P - Information alarm
Glossary 15
1P 1-point calibration: an automatic calibration of
sensor parameters using CAL1 solution.
2P 2-point calibration: an automatic calibration of all
parameters using CAL1, CAL2, and standby solutions of
different concentrations. Alternatively, cuvette layer
thickness can also be calibrated.
Acid base map A graphical representation of acid-
base physiology in a patient based on the Henderson-
Hasselbalch equation. pH and PCO
2
measurements are
used to identify acid-base physiology disorders, such as
metabolic and respiratory acidosis and alkalosis.
Alkaline Basic, or a solution, whose pH value is greater
than 7.
AMR Range of values that an instrument can report
directly without diluting or increasing the concentration
of a sample.
A
rate
The assisted breathing rate when a patient is on a
ventilator.
Arterial blood Blood taken from the artery.
AutoQC module A unit that automatically takes QC
measurements programmed by the user.
Barcode scanner Hand-held scanner with integrated
decoder for simple input of QC and electrode data, and
patient and operator information.
BG sensors Part of the cobas b 123 Sensor Cartridge.
They measure pH, PO
2
, PCO
2
and Hct parameters.
Bilirubin Yellow decomposition product of the red
blood pigment, hemoglobin.
Calibration for Ready A calibration type that brings
all activated parameters into the “Ready” state.
Clot Catcher Coagulum catcher for use with capillaries
and Roche MICROSAMPLER PROTECT.
Clot Catcher PRO Coagulum catcher for use with
syringes.
cobas b 123 AutoCVC Pack Consumable
containing CVC materials in ampoules that is inserted
into the AutoQC module for
cobas b 123 <2> POC system and
cobas b 123 <4> POC system variants. It helps to assess
whether the instrument is accurately measuring values
throughout the measuring range.
cobas b 123 AutoQC Pack Consumable containing
QC materials in ampoules that is inserted into the
AutoQC module for cobas b 123 <2> POC system and
cobas b 123 <4> POC system variants. It allows for the
automatic controlling of BG, ISE, Glu, Lac, and
COOX/Bilirubin parameters.
cobas b 123 Fluid Pack Consumable containing all
operating fluids, 2 waste bags, a sample input module, a
cuvette for the oximeter module (optional), and tubing
for the 2 peristaltic pumps and valves.
cobas b 123 Sensor Cartridge Consumable
containing a thick-film sensor that is used to translate
electrochemical and electrical signals from samples into
measurement values for BG, ISE, Glu, and Lac
parameters.
COMBITROL PLUS B QC material for controlling BG,
ISE, Glu, Lac, COOX/Bilirubin in manual QC
measurements.
CVC Control materials that help assess whether the
instrument is accurately measuring values throughout
the measuring range.
Defects Module-specific issues that do not affect the
operation of the instrument. You can perform
measurements, but you may not be able to perform
specific functions if it involves the affected module.
Depot repair Allows you to exchange your defective
system for a replacement system while it is being
repaired. This service is only available in selected
countries.
Fill port Enables a sample to be aspirated from syringes,
capillaries, ampoule adapters, and
Roche MICROSAMPLER PROTECT.
Glu/Lac sensors Part of the
cobas b 123 Sensor Cartridge. They measure glucose and
lactate parameters.
.
Hematocrit The ratio of blood cell volume (mainly
from red blood corpuscles) to the total blood volume.
Hemoglobin Main component of erythrocytes and
serves for transporting oxygen.
Hemolyzer It applies a strong ultrasound field to
samples to destroy the cell membranes of erythrocytes.
This releases hemoglobin for analysis.
Heparin salts The only permitted anticoagulant for
use with the system.
Information alarm Actions that you have to perform.
You can perform all functions with the instrument while
information alarms are active.
