Troubleshooting
CLV integrated in OTS 400 Omni Portal System
Malfunction Possible cause Remedy
1. Trigger mode in the CLV:
OTS trigger
Reading mode "Start/stop":
in master/slave arrangement with
OTC 400
CLV not triggered by the OTC 400:
– the "Sensor" LED does not light up
– the red scan line does not appear
• Incorrect reading pulse source para-
meterized in the CLV.
• CLV not parameterized as Slave.
• CAN interface incorrectly parameterized
in the CLV.
• Sensors for start and stop of reading
trigger: incorrectly connected to
OTC 400 or switching inputs incorrectly
parameterized.
• "Master/Slave" mode not selected in
the OTC 400.
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab, READING TRIG-
GER SOURCE section: is "OTS trigger"
mode selected?
• In the "CLV-Setup" program: choose the
DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab, click the TRACK-
ING PARAMETERS button, RELEASE POINTS
section: OBJECT RELEASE POINT = 0 mm
selected?
Check box "MASTER/SLAVE VIA OTC" acti-
vated?
• Check: CAN INTERFACE tab, CAN INTERFACE
FUNCTION section: "OTS slave" as well as
"data transfer rate" selected in accor-
dance to OTC 400?
• Check connection and parameterization
of switching inputs, see OTS 400

• Check in OTC 400 with the "CLV-
Setup" program:
choose the DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab,
click the READING PARAMETERS tab, OPERAT-
ING MODE section: one of the two modes
for master/slave selected?
2. Trigger mode:

in master/slave arrangement with
OTC 400
CLV not triggered by the OTC 400:
– the "Sensor" LED does not light up
– the red scan line does not appear
• Incorrect reading pulse source para-
meterized on the CLV.
• CAN interface incorrectly parameterized

• Sensor for "beginning of object" (at the
beginning of the reading field): incorrectly
connected to OTC 400 or switching input
incorrectly
parameterized.
• Incorrect operation mode parameterized
on the OTC 400.
• Check in the "CLV-Setup" program:
Select the DEVICE CONFIGURATION tab,
READING TRIGGER Source section: is OTS
trigger selected?
• Check: CAN INTERFACE tab, CAN INTERFACE
FUNCTION section: OTS SLAVE and Data
transmission rate selected according to
OTC 400?
• Check connection and parametrization of
switching input, see OTS 400 Operating
Instructions (no. 8 008 869, English
edition)
• Check in OTC 400 with the "CLV-Setup"
program: Select DEVICE CONFIGURATION
tab, R
EADING TRIGGER PARAMETERS button,
OPERATION MODE section: is INCREMENT
