FIFTH WHEEL CASTER REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• (2) 1/2 in. Combination Wrenches
• (2) Bungee Cords (or equivalent)
PROCEDURE:
1. Raise the litter and the rails to the highest position and
apply the brakes.
2. Lift the base hood, separating the Velcro fasteners
holding it to the base, and support it using bungee
cords.
3. Using two 1/2 in. combination wrenches, remove the
locknut (C) and bolt (B) holding the caster (A) to the
wheel arms. Remove the defective caster.
4. Install the new caster.
5. Verify proper operation of the fifth wheel mechanism
when it is engaged before replacing the base hood and
returning the stretcher to service.
NEUTRAL GUIDE PLATE REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• 3/8 in. Combination Wrenches
• #2 Phillips Screwdriver
• (2) Bungee Cords (or equivalent)
PROCEDURE:
1. Raise the litter and the rails to the highest position and
apply the brakes.
2. Lift the base hood, separating the Velcro fasteners
holding it to the base, and support it using bungee
cords.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver and a 3/8 in. combination
wrench, remove the two locknuts (B) and two screws
(E) holding the neutral guide plate (C) to the left
support plate (D).
4. Remove the defective guide plate.
5. Install the new guide plate and adjust its mounting position by first positioning the steer pedal to the Neutral
position and then aligning the guide plate cavity with the neutral guide wheel. Tighten the fasteners.
6. Verify proper operation of the 5
th
wheel before replacing the base hood and returning the stretcher to service.
