5.10.1 Operating WMT700 with Terminal Program
• PC with a serial port.
• Required cables for serial connection. See 2.4.3 Cables (page 28).
• Any terminal program, such as Tera Term or Windows HyperTerminal.
1. Connect a cable between your terminal computer, power supply, and WMT700.
2. Open the Windows HyperTerminal program.
3. Cancel the new connection.
4. Select File > Properties.
5. Select the correct COM port and select
Configure.
6. Set the communication parameters according to the configured port settings of
WMT700. The default values for WMT700 are:
Bits per second
9600
Data bits 8
Parity None
Stop bits 1
Flow control None
7. Select Apply > OK.
8. Select Settings > ASCII setup > ASCII sending - Send line ends with line feed
(optional) > OK. Close the New Connection Properties window.
9. Select View > Font > Terminal.
10. Select Call > Call. Enter a name and select an icon for the connection. Select OK.
11. Switch the sensor power supply on. The following information is displayed: WMT700
v<version number>
12. Wait for 4 seconds. WMT700 enters measurement mode automatically.
13. To test the connection, enter
configuration mode with the following command:
$0OPEN<CR><LF>
14. Use the following command to return to measurement mode: CLOSE<CR><LF>
You can now start operating WMT700. Note that WMT700 does not send data messages
automatically unless
configured to do so.
