Vaisala recommends using the optional bird cage (WMT70BirdKit) in areas with large bird
populations. The cage is designed to prevent large birds from disturbing the wind speed and
direction measurements.
You can install the bird cage on a mounted WMT700 without dismounting the wind sensor.
In cold climates, accumulated snow or ice on the bird cage can disturb the measurement. In
such conditions, perform frequent visual inspections of WMT700 to avoid ice or snow build-
ups.
