FORMATTING DISKS
Before a disk (floppy or hard) can be used with the S2000, it must be formatted. The next page
down allows this.
FORMATTING FLOPPY DISKS
The DISK FORMAT screen looks like this:
To format a floppy disk, press F1.
You can select to format a high density or low density floppy disk using F1 and F2 respectively.
Pressing either of these keys will start the formatting process.
If there is no floppy in the drive when you select to format it, you will receive the following
prompt:
Please insert a floppy disk into the drive.
As the disk is being formatted, you will see this display:
When the formatting process is over, you will be shown this screen.
This indicates that was successfully formatted . Press F2 to exit this screen.. If, however, you
receive this message:
This indicates that there is some problem with the floppy disk. You can try again if you like but it
may be that the disk is old and slightly damaged in some way. Your best bet is to throw it away
and use a new disk. It is unlikely that you will receive such a message with brand new disks but
it may happen on floppy disks that are being re-used, especially if they have been used before
on another system.
Formatting a floppy disk will permanently remove all data
previously recorded on it. Only format new disks or ones which
contain data that you are sure you don’t need any more.
If you have a hard disk connected to the S2000 as well, be
especially careful to select FLOPPY!!
