Information The power level of the STM-1 receive signal (optical or electrical) is below a
defined level and LOF is detected.
In previous releases of the 1643 AMS (releases prior to release 5.0), this alarm
may also indicate that an optical SFP module is not plugged.

Local indications The red fault LED is flashing.
Cause Possible causes of the alarm are:
• Cable rupture
• Dirty optical connector(s)
• Equipment fault(s) in the upstream station
• Previous releases of the 1643 AMS only: An optical SFP module is not
plugged.
Actions Check operation of the transmitter in the far-end station.
Check for cable breaks or dirty connectors.
Previous releases of the 1643 AMS only: Check whether an optical SFP
module is unintentionally not plugged.
Note(s) In the downstream direction, AIS is inserted.
In the upstream direction, “Multiplex Section - Remote Defect Indicator”
(MS-RDI) is inserted.
