The pulse method is used to measure the performance of optical
amplifiers for wavelength division multiplexing optical signals. In this
system, the light source is pulse modulated and the gain and noise figure
of the wavelength are measured.
The MS9740B identifies the pulse-modulated optical signal and detects
the wavelength for measuring the optical amplifier performance.
