7.4 Optical Connector/Optical Adapter Cleaning
Cleaning the Ferrule End Surface
Use an approved adapter cleaner to clean the ferrule end surface in the
optical connector. The ferrule in the optical connectors needs periodic
cleaning. Although the following procedures use the FC connector and
adapter as an example, use the same methods when cleaning other
connector and adapter types.
1. Remove the currently connected adapter by raising the adapter lever
(you will hear a “click” when the latch disengages) and then gently
pull the adapter straight towards you.

2. Moisten an adapter cleaner with isopropyl alcohol and then use it to
clean the end surface and sides of the ferrule.
