Measurement Functions
5.7 Measuring Optical Amplifier
5.7.1 Optical Amplifier Measurement Method
The following items can be measured by the optical amplifier functions.
NF: Noise figure
Gain: Gain
Signal Wl: Amplified optical peak wavelength
ASE Lvl/(Res): ASE level for amplified light
Pin Lvl: Signal level input
Pout Lvl: Signal level output
The noise figure and gain are calculated from the power of the optical
input to the optical amplifier (Pin), the power of the optical signal output
from the optical amplifier (Pout), and the ASE level (Pase).
For the calculation formula, refer to 5.7.7Calculation Method”.
Pin, Pout, and Pase are measured from the optical input to the optical
amplifier and the spectrum of the optical output of the optical amplifier.
