Engineering tests
Besides the type tests and the production tests, HBM has also performed several
engineering tests to verify the robustness of the design during the engineering design
qualicationphase.
Component tests
Every component crossing the isolation barrier is tested and/or examined to make
sure it will pass the type test. The test voltage used is the same high voltage DC that is
used for the type tests, as well as an additional impulse voltage of up to ± 7000 V. The
testimpulseusesa1.2μsrisetimeandanamplitudereductionof50%ofthemaxi-
mumpeakvoltagein50μsafterthepeakhasbeenreached.
