1. Controller Overview

1.1 Overview
This product is a controller dedicated for the pulse motor type actuators, and which follows the
foot prints of the existing PCON controllers in the features, but also has applied some new
features to improve convenience and safety further more.
It is applicable for the battery-less absolute encoder which enables to retain the position data
without using battery in standard. It also is equipped with the power saving feature which
considers the growing awareness of energy-saving, and features such as the predictive and
protective maintenance.
Also, for PCON-CBP, by connecting an actuator (pulse pressing) equipped with a loadcell, it
should become available to manage the force controls such as pressing and pulling by
numbers.
Also, by using a field network type controller, the current load data can be output.
The main characteristics and the features are as follows:
Battery-less absolute encoder supported in standard
Zone output boundary setup for each position table
Individual setup of acceleration and deceleration
The details in the position table are divided into the acceleration and deceleration.
It assumes the case that impact or vibration due to the material or profile of the payload is to
be avoided. Reducing the value for the acceleration/deceleration and the track of the
deceleration curve gets eased.
Limit feeding speed at trial run adjustment
From the perspective of ensuring safety, limitation of feeding speed is available during the trial
run adjustment.
Power Saving
There is a tendency in general that a pulse motor spends more retaining current during a stop
compared to an AC servomotor. Therefore, there are ways to save energy available
considering a use with a long standby period of time.
Predictive Maintenance and Protective Maintenance
Once load has increased for such reasons as lack of grease on guides an a ball screw in an
actuator, the current applied to a motor should gradually increase. There is a feature
equipped to output an alarm once the current reaches a threshold set by a user.
Also, by inputting the period of maintenance (e.g. total traveling time and total movement
count) in advance to a controller, timing for grease supply and regular maintenance should
become available to check.

ME0342-4B 1-2
In the actual case of starting up the equipment or any malfunction occurred, refer to
instruction manuals of an actuator, teaching pendant, PC software and so on as well as this
manual.
It is impossible to state everything including unexpected phenomena such as a complicated
signal change at a critical timing which are out of the normal operation. Therefore, take the
things that are not described in this manual as an impossible thing.
* Keep this manual to a place easy to access when necessary to read again.
* The contents in this manual should cover everything considerable, however, please contact
IAI in case of any awareness to mistakes or consideration.
