OPERATION MACHINE OPERATIONS AND CONTROLS

Check Oil Level in Hydraulic Tank, Add Oil
q Engine parts and oils are heated to a high temperature immediately after the engine has stopped. A
casual touch can cause a scald. So begin the work great care.
q When the oil filler plug is removed, heated oil may spurt out. Loosen the plug gradually and with care
to release the internal pressure.
For details of the method of draining and adding hydraulic oil to machines equipped with a service center (option),
see “Method of Draining, Adding Hydraulic Oil (6-25)“.
1. Park the machine on the level ground and set the work
equipment in a posture shown at right. Then check the oil
level and add oil if necessary. [The machine held in work-
ing posture (1)]
2. If the work equipment is not in the condition shown in the
diagram on the right, start the engine, run the engine at low
speed, retract the arm and bucket cylinders, lower the
boom, put the bucket teeth in contact with the ground to set
the work equipment in the posture shown in the diagram on
the right, then stop the engine.
3. Within 15 seconds after stopping the engine, turn starting
switch to the ON position, and operate the control levers
(work equipment, travel) in each direction to release the
internal pressure.
4. Use oil level gauge (G) at the rear of the hydraulic tank on
the right side of the machine to check the oil level. The oil
should be within the range specified for the oil temperature.
If the oil level is low, add oil.
q Use scale plate (A) when measuring with the gauge.
q The oil level differs according to the oil temperature
and the way the work equipment is lowered to the
ground. Measure with the gauge according to the level
check table on the next page.
