3. Disconnect drain hose (4) for water separator cup (3).
4. Using the filter wrench, turn filter cartridge (2) to the left
and remove it.
5. After removing the cartridge, turn cup (3) of the water sepa-
rator installed to the bottom of the cartridge to the left and
remove it. (This cup is used again.)
6. Install cup (3) to the bottom of the new fuel pre-filter car-
tridge. (When doing this, always replace the O-ring with a
new part.)
q Tightening torque: 10 Nm (1.0 kgm)
7. Clean the filter holder, fill the new filter cartridge with clean fuel, coat the packing surface thinly with oil, then
install to the filter holder.
For machines of poor fuel arrangement specification, there is no need to keep the cartridge filled with fuel, but
carry out air bleeding after the replacement, seeing “Bleeding air from fuel circuit with the electric priming pump (4-
47)“.
q When adding fuel, do not remove cap (B). Always add
fuel from the 8 small holes (A) on the dirty side.
q After adding fuel, remove cap (B) and install the fuel fil-
ter.
q Always fill with clean fuel. Be careful not to let any dirt
or dust get into the fuel. In particular, center portion is
the clean side, so do not remove cap (B) when adding
fuel. Be careful not to let dirt or dust get into center
portion on the clean side.
8. When installing, tighten until the packing surface contacts the seal surface of the filter holder, then tighten it 3/
4 of a turn.
If the filter cartridge is tightened too far, the packing will be damaged and this will lead to leakage of fuel. If the
filter cartridge is too loose, fuel will also leak from the packing, so always tighten the correct amount.
q When tightening with a filter wrench, be extremely careful not to dent or damage the filter.
9. Install drain hose (4).
10. Check that the drain plug at the bottom of the water separator cup is tightened securely.
Tightening torque: 0.2 to 0.45 Nm (0.02 to 0.046 kgm)
