What Happens
During Installation?
In order to install the print server in Windows NT 3.51 networks,
you must first install the TCP/IP services. Only then can TCP/IP
be used. It is also useful to install FTP services. This allows you to
open an FTP connection to transfer print data and change
parameters.
By the configuration of the LPR ports, the LPD protocol can
automatically be used for printing.

Installing the TCP/IP and FTP Services
Saving the IP Address in the Print Server
Setting Up the Printer and Configuring the LPR Port
3.6.1. Installing the TCP/IP and FTP Services
In order to be able to use your print server in a Windows NT 3.51
network, you must first install the TCP/IP and FTP services into
the NT server. If the TCP/IP and FTP services have already been
installed, you may skip to the "Saving the IP Address in the Print
Server" section on page 3-35.
Procedure Proceed as follows:
1. Select 'Control Panel' on the main menu.
2. Double click 'Network.'
