Chapter 4 System Setup
30 Lynx II DSA User's Manual - 7096089
Wizard Definitions
An MCA Definition created with the MID Setup Wizard will automatically be loaded into
the MCA Runtime Configuration Database when you finish the definition. You don’t need
to do anything more.
Editor Definitions
If you created or edited the MCA Definition with the MID Editor, you’ll have to manually
load the saved file into the database yourself. The next section, Loading the Database on
page 30, tells you how.
Loading the Database
A new Definition can be loaded into the Database with the Load to command, which
brings up a dialog box that lets you choose the file to be loaded into the database.
Loading Multiple Definitions
Though some of the programmable controls may be initially set with the MCA Input
Definition Editor, all programmable controls applicable to the Lynx II can be adjusted at
run-time within the Acquisition and Analysis application; some, such as front-end settings
can be set even while you’re collecting data. Adjustments made at run-time in the
Acquisition and Analysis application can be stored in the database with File | Save. Once
saved, the adjustments will be retained in the Input Definition File for future sessions
when you Close the data source or Unload the database.
If you try to load an Input Definition that contains a duplicate Input name, you’ll see an
error message telling you that the requested Definition can’t be loaded.
Unloading the Database
Though some of the programmable controls may be initially set with the MCA Input
Definition Editor, all programmable controls applicable to the Lynx II can be adjusted at
run-time within the Acquisition and Analysis application; some, such as front-end settings
can be set even while you’re collecting data. Adjustments made at run-time in the
Acquisition and Analysis application can be stored in the database with File | Save. Once
saved, the adjustments will be retained in the Input Definition File for future sessions
when you Close the data source or Unload the database.
The Unload Process
To unload a Database, click on the Database menu’s Unload from command, which will
bring up a dialog box. If several choices are listed, there are multiple definitions in the
database.
Click on the one you want to unload, then click on the Unload button. Note that this
menu item is disabled if the MCA Runtime Configuration Database is currently being
used by another application.
