Factory Reset Control
The factory reset button is a small hole located on the rear panel. Both the Soft Reset and
Factory Reset operations are initiated through the recessed reset button.
Pressing the reset button will initiate one of the two reset operations, Factory Reset or Soft
Reset; the Lynx II will acknowledge the button press with a brief flicker of the POWER
Led. Once the button press has been acknowledged, the length of time that the button
remains pressed will determine which reset operation will be performed.
Both reset operations will turn off the high voltage and abort any acquisition currently in
process. The Lynx II will be rebooted similar to a power cycle. Spectral data for PHA and
MCS will not be affected, however, any residual data from Auxiliary Counters, SCA
Counters, List and Time-Stamped List will be lost.
CAUTION:
Performing a Factory Reset operation will reset all device
parameters to factory-default state, including all network
parameters. This means that any pre-established configurations
that relied on non-factory default network settings such as Genie
MID Configurations will not operate until the network parameters
are restored to their original settings.
During a reset operation, Lynx II’s POWER Led is used to provide feedback to the user. If
the recessed reset button is pressed, then released immediately, the Lynx II will ignore the
button press. The state of the POWER Led will not change.
When the recessed reset button is held pressed for more than 1 second the POWER Led
will flicker briefly to indicate that the press has been acknowledged; at this point, either a
Soft Reset or a Factory Reset will be committed, depending on when the button is
released:
• If the reset button is held pressed for 7 seconds or longer, a Soft Reset operation
will be performed. The POWER Led will blink green on the rear panel and blue on
the front panel’s Power LED Bar as the Lynx II re-initializes and switch to solid
green on the rear panel and blue on the front panel’s Power LED Bar when the
Lynx II is ready.
• If the reset button is held for less than 7 seconds, a Factory Reset operation will be
performed. The POWER Led will blink red for a few seconds, then switch to blink
green on the rear panel and blue on the front panel’s Power LED Bar as the Lynx II
re-initializes, and finally, switch to solid green on the rear panel and blue on the
front panel’s Power LED Bar when the Lynx II is ready.
Typically, a soft audible ‘click’ is heard from the front-end micro-relays as the Lynx II
initializes the front-end electronics with user settings.
Following a Factory Reset operation, any initial setup previously
performed on the Lynx II must be repeated because the
communication settings will have been reset to the factory state.
