Lynx II Setup for Administrators and Users
Lynx II DSA User's Manual 7096089 69
Common Settings Required During Initial Setup and After a Factory
Reset
Some common tasks that are required by the Lynx II administrator during the initial setup
and after a Factory Reset operation are listed below:
Setting Lynx II’s date & time-of-day. The Lynx II contains a battery-backed
clock; once set, the internal clock will retain the time for a long period even if no
power is applied to the Lynx II. The procedure for setting the time can be found in
the Setting the Lynx II’s System Time on page 13. The Lynx II’s time is not affected
by a Factory Reset procedure.
Setting the Lynx II’s Security. Security consists of the Login requirement and
password. Procedure on setting security can be found in Change your Administrator
Password and Login Option on page 12. Factory Reset procedure disables the
“Login required” feature. Likewise, “Login required” is disabled on a new Lynx II
received from the factory.
Setting the Lynx II to a new IP Address. IP address can be set to be dynamically
assigned by your network (with DHCP enabled) or statically assigned (DHCP
disabled) by your network administrator. The procedure for selecting network
parameters can be found in Change Network Ethernet IP Address on page 12. When
selecting manual assignments for the IP address, care must be taken not to assign
multiple devices at the same address. Factory Reset procedure resets the
communication parameters to the default settings listed in Lynx II Access Default
Settings on page 65.
Setting the Lynx II’s UPnP name to a non-default string or disabling UPnP
advertising from the Lynx II. The factory default name string is Lynx-II. The
procedure for selecting a different name, or disabling UPnP advertising can be
found in Accessing your Lynx II through the UPnP Name on page 13. Factory Reset
procedure enables UPnP advertising in the Lynx II and resets the UPnP name to
Lynx-II. UPnP is enabled on a new Lynx II received from the factory.
