Installing Firmware on the Lynx II Device
The firmware for the Lynx II is supplied as a single file named LynxII-x.y.z.nnnnn.swu
under the Firmware folder of the supplied media where “x.y.z.nnnnn” makes up the
version of the Lynx II firmware.
During the Update process, you must take the Lynx II system offline for a brief period of
time. The Lynx II will experience a 'reboot' during this time.
Once you have located the firmware update file, copy the file to a local accessible working
folder and review the supplied update documentation for specific instructions.
Please refer to the Release Notes included in the CD as they may contain updated
information that may be version specific.
Please note that some firmware updates may force parameters back to their factory-default
settings. Please backup your parameters as needed before performing the update. Refer to
“Backup and Restore” on page 132 for instructions.
Be sure that all acquisitions have been turned off before performing the update. During the
update the device will reset; all communication and acquisition activities will be aborted.
If the acquisition was active for SCAs, Counters, List/TList, or MSS, any data in the
internal acquisition buffers will be lost once the device resets.
The Lynx II firmware is updated via the application’s web interface. Open the Navigation
Pane and select Maintenance | Firmware Update. Click the Select button to navigate to
the location of the firmware file. Select the file and click the Open button in the dialog. A
message will confirm uploading the firmware file to the device. Click Yes to start the
update process. The update and reboot status will be displayed in messages on the web
page and on the LCD display.
Once the update is complete and the device has rebooted, clear the browser cache and
reconnect to the Lynx II. Open the Navigation Pane, select Maintenance | MCA
Information, and verify the reported firmware version matches the file selected. The
firmware version is also reported on the LCD.
