Rack-Mount Option
The Model Lynx II-Mount Kit option includes hardware for mounting a single Lynx II, or
two Lynx II units side by side, in 2U of a 19 inch equipment rack.
Refer to the Rack Mounting Your Lynx II on page 179 for rack-mounting instructions.
Genie 2000 Analysis Software
Lynx II requires Genie 2000 Basic Spectroscopy Software, Apex, or ProSpect for
acquiring and analyzing spectra data. This section concentrates on Genie 2000 operation.
Genie 2000 supports only PHA, DLFC (LFC+ in Genie), and MCS acquisition modes.
Advanced acquisition modes such as MSS, LIST, and TLIST, or the use of Auxiliary
Counters and SCA Counters are not supported by Genie.
Lynx II does not require the Genie 2000 software for acquisitions or its browser interface.
When using Genie 2000 as the primary interface to control the Lynx II, the use of the
browser interface to control the same Lynx II is not possible. In that case, the browser
interface can open the Lynx II in read-only mode for viewing purposes while being
controlled by Genie.
Note: Most of the information presented in this section is a review of the information
presented in the Genie 2000 Operations Manual. As it may be relevant, some areas
focus on details specific to the Lynx II DSA, and some details that are not relevant
to Lynx II are omitted.
Installing Genie 2000 On Your PC
To install the optional Genie 2000 software on your PC, refer to the documentation
provided with the Genie 2000 software. Genie 2000 software installation is covered in the
appendix, Software Installation, of the Genie 2000 Operations Manual.
Configuring Spectrum Refresh Rate
Genie software uses the same registry parameter for configuring the default spectrum
refresh interval for the Lynx II, Osprey, and DSA-LX MCAs. The default rate is 1 second.
The value of this parameter must be specified in milliseconds (e.g. for a 1.5 seconds
update rate enter 1500). This value should be selected according to the capabilities of your
PC; faster PCs can tolerate smaller values for faster updates. This property is located in
Windows Registry under the following path:
Windows 32-bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canberra Industries, Inc.\Genie-2000
Environment\Lynx II\SpectrumCacheTime
Windows 64-bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canberra Industries,
Inc.\Genie-2000 Environment\Lynx II\SpectrumCacheTime
