Chapter 4 System Setup
54 Lynx II DSA User's Manual - 7096089
Auto P/Z
Initiates automatic pole/zero adjustment. The Auto P/Z process can be initiated only when
the acquisition is off. Once started, the Auto P/Z process will terminate either when (a)
convergence is achieved, or (b) a timeout of approximately 180 seconds has been reached.
In the case of timeout, an error will be reported that convergence was not successful.
Preamp Type
Selects the preamplifier type as either RC (resistive-capacitive filter) or TRP (transistor
reset). Pole/Zero and Auto Pole/Zero adjustment are disabled for TRP Preamp Type. The
internal Pole/Zero value will be set to zero (time constant of infinity) when TRP Preamp
Type is selected.
Sample Changer Parameters
The Sample Changer controls are accessible from a PHA or MCS datasource if a sample
changer driver was selected during the definition of the datasource in the MID Editor. The
datasource type is defined during the MID Editor or MID Wizard session by selecting
MCA Number 1 for PHA or Number 2 for MCS.
The sample changers settings displayed are dependent on the type of sample changer
selected in the Sample Changer device setting (see Sample Changer).
Internal Sample Changer
The Internal Sample Changer settings selection for the Lynx II for either a PHA or MCS
definition contains the following controls.

Ready
Used by the Internal Chgr sample changer selection. Controls the interpretation of the
Lynx II’s rear panel’s CHGR RDY sample changer input signal to produce a “Changer is
Ready” condition. With Positive selection, the Lynx II will interpret a TTL-high signal as
“Changer is Ready”, whereas with Negative selection the Lynx II will interpret a TTL-low
signal as “Changer is Ready”.
If the “Changer is not Ready” then the start of a PHA or MCS acquisition will be deferred
until the “Changer is Ready” condition is met or acquisition is aborted.
If the acquisition has been deferred as a result of the “Changer is Ready” condition not
having been met, then Genie’s acquisition status will be reported as “Wait” instead of
“Busy”.
