Appendix B Communications Setup
160 Lynx II DSA User's Manual - 7096089
Alternate Setup Connection
The USB connection is another option and will be covered in a later section.
Regardless of which connection method is used between the PC and Lynx II, an Internet
Browser running on your PC will be used in all cases to communicate with and set up the
Lynx II.
Universal Plug and Play
By default, if the Lynx II is connected to your Windows network, the device will register
itself for Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) during startup. This means that if the Lynx II is
connected, has completed its initialization, and your network policies do not restrict UPnP
messages, other computers on the network are informed of the Lynx II’s presence and
status.
Notes:
• To use the UPnP feature, it must first be set up and active on your Windows 10 (or
newer) PC operating system. Earlier versions of Windows do not support this
protocol.
• For a networked computer to detect the Lynx II when it is connected to the network,
your PC must have UPnP services installed.
Adding Universal Plug and Play to Your PC
If not installed, you can add UPnP by following the steps below:
For Windows 10
1. Press the Start button on Windows 10 and select the Control Panel from the
Start menu or type “Control Panel” in the search bar and press Enter.
2. Select the Network and Sharing Center icon to activate the network
information page.
3. Select the Change advanced sharing settings link in the left-hand pane.
