SYNC
Synchronization input/output signal connector, MCX. Can be used to synchronize
acquisitions in multiple Lynx II applications. TTL compatible; Signal operation and
direction are software selectable as Master or Slave.
PHA/DLFC/MCS/MSS modes The Master produces a sync signal at the
programmed rate. The Slave synchronizes the acquisition to the sync signal.
List and Time-stamped List mode – Master instrument: Signal is output and
provides an output pulse every time the Lynx II’s internal 1 µs time base timer
overflows. Pulse width >100 ns. Slave mode: Signal is an input. Each time the
signal pulses >25 ns, the 1 µs internal time base timer will reset.
GENERAL PURPOSE INPUTS/OUTPUTS (GP I/O PORTS)
Buffered input/output signal connectors, three MCXs. For connections to processing
electronics with TTL compatible signals.
GP I/O ports 1 and 2 are configured as counter inputs for external TTL signals to
Auxiliary Counters 1 and 2 respectively. Minimum pulse width is 25 ns; maximum
input rate is 20 MHz.
GP I/O 3 by default provides an ACQ OUT signal to drive lamp drivers. It can also
be used to receive the Test Pulser signal (if enabled) into the auxiliary counters.
PWR
12 V (10–16 V) DC power input jack; mechanically lockable to prevent accidental
disconnection. Current 2.0 A, max.
Acquisition Device Outputs
MON OUT
Shaper monitor output connector, MCX. This signal is the reconstructed energy shaper
signal, and it may be observed by connecting it to an external oscilloscope. The signal
range is ±2 V. The signal can be selected through Maintenance | Diagnostics |
Monitor. Selections are Off, Slow Shaper, Fast Shaper, and ADC. Default is Slow
Shaper.
ICR (INCOMING COUNT RATE)
Fast discriminator output connector, MCX. TTL compatible. Produces a positive pulse
100 ns wide for each incoming event above the instrument’s Fast threshold setting.
CHGR ADV
Sample Changer Advance output connector, MCX. TTL compatible; software selectable
polarity for active-high or active-low. Pulses for 150 ms for each sample advance
command the instrument receives.
SCA
Single Channel Analyzer output connector, MCX. Pulses for each event with an energy
between the lower and upper level discriminators.
