I. Non-parameterized ROI
After creating an ROI you can choose to not fit a model to the region by not selecting the
option Parameterize Data in the Region Adjust dialog. This section will discuss the
following
• The method is used to determine the values for the peak.
• How the peak area is calculated.
Non-Fitted Calculations
The algorithms for the non-fitted peak calculations, centroid, full width at half maximum
(FWHM), the full width at tenth maximum (FWTM), and the Gaussian Ratio are
described in this section.
Please note that the algorithms in this section are used to calculate the FWTM and the
Gaussian ratio (using the unfitted FWHM and FWTM) for the parameterized ROI too.
This is because the fitting cannot reliably calculate the FTWM value.
Centroid
To calculate a peak centroid, the algorithm proceeds from the left Half Maximum point
(channel below the Half Maximum value) to the right Half Maximum point, and computes

where
C
i
= absolute contents of Channel i
I = channel address relative to the left Half-Maximum point
The Peak Centroid then equals the left Half-Maximum point + I
