Preparing the Patient
ST80i Stress Test System Instructions for Use 3-29
NIBP & SpO
2
ST80i supports optional SpO
2
and motion-tolerant Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP)
devices. ST80i automatically collects the NIBP through a cuff. The patient’s SpO
2
is collected
in real-time through a sensor.
NIBP and SpO
2
are real-time numeric displays for the NIBP and SpO2 values for an entire
study or for a single instance. They can be manually measured and the values can be
overridden.
During the stress test, NIBP and SpO
2
are measured according to the intervals defined in the
exercise protocol and are continually displayed on the screen. This will be recorded in the
BPmmhg field in the Side Panel and also on the ECG. The SpO
2
measurement will also be
recorded in the Side Panel in the SpO
2
field.
If enabled, there are also audible prompts for NIBP and SpO
2
. To enable audio prompts, see
the ST80i Installation and Configuration Guide.
To connect the patient to the NIBP device
1
Place the cuff on the patient.
2 Take a pre-stress NIBP connection test to determine if the cuff is correctly placed on the
patient and to ensure NIBP measurements throughout the stress test.
To connect the patient to an SpO
2
sensor
Place the SpO
2
sensor on the patient’s finger. connection test. The screen should display
an SpO
2
value.
Override NIBP and SpO
2
When you enter or acquire blood pressure values according to the pre-programmed automatic
prompts or at any other times during the test, for each recording, the blood pressure value,
phase, and total time of the phase at the time of the acquisition are captured.
The automatic timing of blood pressure measurements is established in the exercise protocol.
You can, however, take blood pressure measurements at any time during each stage by using
the
BP button. Or you can enter the measurement manually, after taking the patient's blood
pressure.
When you override the values of NIBP and SpO
2
, they will be displayed in the Stage Report
and the Final Stress Report.
NOTE Once the NIBP or SpO
2
is manually overwritten, ST80i no longer updates the real-time NIBP or SpO
2
values from the NIBP monitor.
