Gently tap the head of the ampoule with your fingernail to remove any liquid
from the top.

Break open the ampoule using gauze.

CAUTION
Personal injury due to contact with glass splinters from broken QC ampoules
Glass splinters created when breaking QC ampoules may result in personal injury.
r When you break QC ampoules, use several layers of gauze and wear appropriate
personal protective equipment, such as:
o Lab gloves
o Lab coat
o Eye protection
o Face shield if there is a chance of splashing or splattering
