14.2
Contents of the software update
In this chapter, the files that are used for the different update parts are described.
14.2.1
OS 1.x
The OS 1.x contains the following files:
Redboot_RAM.bin – a binary image with the bootloader
zImage – a binary image with the Linux kernel
zImage.service– a binary image for the service mode
rootfs.jffs2 – a binary image with the JFFS2 root file system
logo.png (optional) – a boot logo which is displayed at every system start
Additionally, there is an md5 checksum file for each of the above files which are used to
check the integrity of the files in the installation.
OS 1.x is not developed any further and should not be used for new development projects.
14.2.2
OS 2.x
The OS 2.x contains the following files:
Boot_opusaX_2.X.bin – a binary image with the bootloader
Redboot_RAM.bin – a binary image with the bootloader for an update from an older (1.x)
OS version (only necessary when updating from a BSP < 2.x)
linux_opusaX_2.X.bin – a binary image with the Linux kernel
service_opusaX_2.X.bin – a binary image for the service mode
zImage.service – a binary image for the service mode for an update from an older (1.x) OS
version (only necessary when updating from a BSP < 2.x)
rootfs_opusaX_2.X.squashfs – a binary image with the squash root file system
logo_opusaX_2.X.png (optional) – a boot logo which is displayed at every system start
Additionally, there is an md5 checksum file for each of the above files which are used to
check the integrity of the files in the installation.
14.2.3
OS EGSPRO
The OS EGSPRO contains the following files:
boot_egspro_X.X.X.bin – a binary image with the bootloader
pmic_egspro_X.X.X.sud – a binary file with the firmware for the power management circuit
rootfs_egspro_X.X.X-we-x11-qt5.tar.gz – Root file system package including the Linux
kernel
dev-tree_egspro_X.X.X.tar.tar.gz – Device tree file to install the correct device
configuration into the device
uImage – update RAMDISK image (optional, only if a 0.x OS is installed before)
logo_egspro_a6-we-landscape.bmp (optional) – boot logo for A6 for normal start
recovery_egspro_a6-we-landscape.bmp (optional) – boot logo for A6 for update mode
logo_egspro_a8-we-landscape.bmp (optional) – boot logo for A8 for normal start
recovery_egspro_a8-we-landscape.bmp (optional) – boot logo for A8 for update mode
update.img (only for upgrade from 1.x to 2.x and from 1.x or 2.x to 3.x) – updater image file
